Never Ignore These Subtle Symptoms!

This is a contributor’s blogpost …

Everyone wants to stay healthy, and the vast majority of people make a strong effort to look after themselves. However, because of the fact that they want to be healthy, a lot of people have a tendency to ignore the possibility that there might be something wrong. This means that they often end up ignoring symptoms that could potentially be the sign of something serious, simply because it’s easier to pretend they’re not there. Of course, it hardly takes a genius to realise what a terrible idea this is. Rather than hiding your head in the sand, here are some symptoms that you should never ignore.

Shortness of breath

We all feel like we could stand to be in slightly better shape, and there’s nothing wrong with not being some kind of Olympic level athlete, but if you start to feel like you’re persistently short of breath, no matter what you do, then that could be a sign of something serious. It could be a sign that you need to be more active or it could be a symptom of something a little more serious like asthma. Whatever it is you certainly shouldn’t be feeling winded just from getting up out of a chair. That’s a sign that you should probably speak to your doctor.

Blurred vision

20-20 vision is something a lot of people tend to take for granted, especially considering how common the need for glasses really is. However, a lot of people tend not to really notice any deterioration in their eyesight or, if they do, they try to ignore it as much as possible. This can lead to some pretty dangerous situations, especially if you’re behind the wheel of a car and you’re not able to see nearly as well as you think you can. There are plenty of options for treating the deterioration of your eyesight, from simply wearing glasses to more permanent solutions like monovision laser eye surgery. Make sure that you get your eyes tested regularly so that it’s not something that only gets caught when you can’t see six inches in front of your face.

Headaches

We all get headaches now and then. They can happen because of dehydration, tension, sickness, or a host of other reasons. But if you’re getting headaches on a persistent basis for seemingly no reason, then that’s a clear sign that you need to make an appointment with your doctor. You may find that the cause is something fairly simple, like constant stress, or it may be something more serious. Either way, if you don’t speak to your doctor about it, then you’re never going to be able to do anything about it.

Of course, there’s a good chance that all of these symptoms could turn out to have simple explanations or be nothing at all, but it’s always better to get checked out just to make sure. Having a little bit of peace of mind is better than ignoring something and just hoping that it goes away.
